I miss when it used to be just the "McDonald's Apple Pie" because it was deep-fried and not baked. But, amid concerns that the filling was too hot and maybe health concerns, in 1992, McDonald's switched from fried to baked pies here in the U.S.
Rumor has that at a select few locations, you can still get the fried apple pie, but I haven't seen it anywhere. Still, it's a value since as long as I can remember at
two pies for $1.

I'm not sure in what kind of contraption they bank them in but as you can see they are vented on top, so the filling isn't burn-your-mouth hot when you stuff your face. My sister likes the baked better but I preferred the crispiness of the deep-fried apple pie of my childhood.

As you can see, it's a little bit of a flakey crust which some people like. The filling is standard apple pie filling, nothing special but still tasty. McDonald's Pies also come in cherry and, in other parts of the world, in other flavors such as strawberry, blueberry, and
S'mores!.
The McDonald's Baked Apple Pie works for some people, but if you're like me and crave the fried, you'll step into your local KFC. That's right!
KFC has fried apples pies, two for $1!
