Review: Taco Bell - Bean Burrito

Taco Bell's Bean Burrito wrapped
Taco Bell Bean Burritos have been on the menu for as long as I can remember. Back in undergrad, a couple of my friends used to love them (actually, I still think they love them)... especially before a road trip. Cue "Beans, beans, the magical fruit..."

A Taco Bell Bean Burrito consists of a plain flour tortilla filled with gooey refried beans, diced onions, red sauce, and shredded Cheddar cheese for 99 cents.

How does it taste? It's not too salty, but too salty for beans. There's a fair amount of bean flavor. I've never tasted any diced onions. The red sauce is barely there but you can always add as much as you want. A bit more cheese would help add more variety.

For 99 cents at Taco Bell, there are a lot better tasting (and better value) options on their "Why Pay More?" Value Menu such as the Grilled Chicken Burrito (99 cents) or the Beefy 5-Layer Burrito (89 cents). I'm pretty sure Bean Burritos used to be 89 cents each. For classic Taco Bell taste, I'd rather just have a Crunchy Taco for 89 cents.
