Review: Wendy's - Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger

Wendy's new Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger is a premium fast food burger being tested in the southern California area and features a quarter pound beef patty, bacon, Swiss cheese, guacamole, onions, tomatoes, and mayo on a Kaiser bun. The price is about average for a premium fast food offering at $4.29.

As I popped open the hood of this burger to check out the guac, I was kinda disappointed by the thin layer spread on the top bun and the complete lack of texture. I'm used to guacamole being chunkier with bits of tomatoes and avocado; Wendy's version seemed almost whipped smooth. I was actually surprised when it imparted quite a bit of tart, buttery flavor to the burger.
The applewood-smoked bacon was just slightly thicker and a fair bit wider than what I normally expect from fast food bacon and tasted fattier, like real bacon. There was also enough bacon for every bite.
The cheese was fairly mild but went better with the burger than American or Cheddar would have.
Everything else was pretty standard but all the flavors fit really well together and made for a pretty good burger. Overall, Wendy's Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger is a pretty good fast food burger that offers a novel taste not standard to the normal Wendy's menu.
