Frozen Friday: Banquet - Beef Pot Pie

Banquet's Pot Pies are pretty much the cheapest pot pie option in my neck of the woods. They sell at a regular price of about 99 cents and sometimes go on sale for as low as 50 cents.

The Beef Pot Pie has chunks of beef, peas, carrots, and potatoes in a brown gravy.

Despite the lack of a top crisping disc, the crust on Banquet's Beef Pot Pie turns out better than I remember and actually resembles something that might have come out of the oven rather than the microwave. Basically, it's a much better crust than the comparable Swanson pot pie.
The stew inside was of a decent consistency and had chunks of beef, peas, carrots, and potatoes and quite a bit of salt; a bit of other seasoning thrown into the beef gravy would have been nice. It tasted like salt was the only seasoning used. Swanson has a much better tasting, more nuanced filling. Both are of similar quality as far as the veggies and meat are concerned though.
Between the two, Banquet gets the nod for crust but I'd go with Swanson for the filling even though it tends to cost a little bit more.
