Dave's Hot 'N Juicy Cheeseburgers are the new representation of the Wendy's premium burger touting "juicier, thicker beef," "new premium toppings," and "buttered, toasted buns."
I picked up the 1/4 pound version for $3.59 but you can also double and triple up on patties if that's more to your liking.
I wasn't a huge fan of the previous Classic Single so I was looking forward a bit to the new version.
The new premium toppings are basically red onions and crunchier, crinkle cut pickles over the previous white onions and standard fast food pickles. The lettuce and tomatoes are the same as far as I can see and taste. They're a definite step up though.
The patty itself is thicker and a little less squarish; it's coarser and looks like it might have been hand-formed. The patty is a little bit juicier because it's thicker; they kinda go hand-in-hand. Then end result is a beefier burger. I like it.
It's plenty cheesy as well, with two slices of American cheese.
The new bun has a more noticeable toasting but no crunchiness like In 'N Out. It's much squishier than the old bun and might be a little too squishy as it compacts really easily and feels a bit flimsy. I liked the old bun better.
Overall, Wendy's Dave's Hot 'N Juicy Cheeseburger is a pretty good classic hamburger and a definite improvement over the old burger.

That looks really good, but I agree it would be nice if they used a bun more like In 'N Out. Still, it looks like something you would make at home, which is an obvious plus.
ReplyDeleteLooks like their double-stack.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't really impressed with the Dave's double-burger I picked up. It tasted like the regular double cheeseburger (sans cheese) I usually order, with extra salt. It wasn't worth the higher price to me.
