Burger King's new, limited time Mushroom & Swiss BK Topper features a thicker 3.2-ounce beef patty topped with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and Griller sauce on a sesame seed bun.
If that seems interesting to you, it'll cost $1.99 to pick one up.
The third and last BK Topper to be reviewed by me (you can check out reviews of the Big-Mac-similar Deluxe here and Rodeo Cheseburger redux Western BBQ here.) and the one I liked most... which is curious since mushrooms are just okay for me.
I've talked about the dryness problem I had with the BK Toppers in the prior two reviews (same visit) so sufficed to say the patty was dry despite (or maybe because) it was thicker. "Maybe because" because (haha!) they may have cooked it too long to ensure doneness.
The rest was cheesy, mushroom-y goodness. Although, it obviously would have been better with a somewhat moist beef patty. The combination of Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and the Griller (not very garlicky garlic mayo) sauce just complemented each other really well and made for fairly good eating.
Bottom line: the best of the bunch. Followed closely by the Western BBQ with the Deluxe lagging aways behind.

this one was soooo yummy and oddly addicting!

I think that's basically it. They're maximizing their economies of scale pretty well as it is. The prices are already relatively low for what they're trying to sell. When you think about the costs like labor, utilities etc... how can they price it much lower? For better or worse, we have a minimum wage, meager as it is. Someone's gotta run these places.
I wish we lived in a world where someone could sell burgers for the price of Top Ramen noodles, but I don't see it. I just hope the prices stay close to these levels! Great post though, always fun to see what you have to say.
Just based upon a visual aspect the burger looks like an ooey gooey mess of muddled thrown together whatever was handy to grab vittles.
ReplyDeleteIs "fast food USA" in desperation mode due to declining sales in a hurting economy that may continue a relentless decline until a majority of USA denizens have been cast upon those hard "rocks" of economic despair?
Will may likely sage advice that an energetic youngun' commence opening a back-to-the-basics cheapo burger join where all that can be done to minimize overhead allows a bare-bones price allowing the vittle-imbibing public to procure and sate their burger/fry/beverage desire at a cost lower than any mainstream existing fast food joint?

Alas; I do prefer buying from non-franchise non-corporate owned local burger joints during the very rare times I eat outside the shanty.
I can and do create my own meals using the most inexpensive store-bought ingredients that also happen to be mostly low-cal and packing more and varied nutrients than the typical fast-food fare.
i didn't care for the sauce at all. couldn't finish the burger.
