News: Domino's New Specialty Chicken is Pizza with Chicken Instead of Crust

Domino's is primed to debut new pizzas with 12 pieces of boneless, breaded chicken serving as the "crust." They're calling it "Specialty Chicken." Basically, the boneless pieces of chicken are arranged into a long footprint shape and topped with various pizza toppings and cheese.

According to USA Today, Domino's tried calling it "Pizza Chicken" in test, but "nobody knew what that was." (I'm not sure "Specialty Chicken" is any better... I'd think it was an April Fool's joke, but it's almost mid-April and these are the same folks that came up with bread bowl pastas...)

Domino's Specialty Chicken will be offered in four varieties at launch: Classic Hot Buffalo, Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple, Crispy Bacon & Tomato, and Sweet BBQ Bacon.

- Classic Hot Buffalo is topped with buffalo sauce, ranch, and a cheese blend made with mozzarella, cheddar, and feta.

- Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple comes topped with sweet and spicy mango-habanero sauce, jalapenos, pineapple, and a cheese blend made with cheddar and mozzarella.

- Crispy Bacon & Tomato features garlic parmesan white sauce, a cheese blend made with mozzarella and cheddar, bacon, and tomato.

- Sweet BBQ Bacon has sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, a blend of cheese made with mozzarella and cheddar, and bacon on top.

The new product will be available starting Monday, April 14, and will be featured as part of their ongoing "Buy any two, or more, for $5.99 each" promotion (Update 4/14/14 - my local Domino's has them at $5.99 per order as the regular price).

Apparently, they tested a Cookie Pizza at some point, but it didn't make it (that actually sounds like a better idea to me):
