Starbucks Launches Cold Brew Coffee in Select Parts of U.S.

At the end of this month, Starbucks is launching their new Starbucks Cold Brew coffee in over 2,800 stores located in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest United States, as well as select Canadian cities (Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary).

Cold brewed coffee is generally coffee that's been steeped in room temperature-to-cool water for a length of hours to days rather than brewed with hot water in minutes. It generally results in a smoother coffee without harsh or burnt notes. Also, rather than have them serve you a fresh-brewed hot coffee or a latte over ice, cold brew is typically already chilled.

Starbucks describes their Cold Brew as "smooth and rich" with "chocolate and light citrus notes." The coffee blend used for their Cold Brew comes from Latin America and Africa and they let it steep for 20 hours.

The move follows successful tests last year in Boston, MA and San Francisco, CA.
