Review: Starbucks - Holiday Spice Flat White

Starbucks Holiday Spice Flat White features two ristretto shots of Christmas Blend Espresso Roast lightly steeped with a holiday mulling spice blend and finished with micro-foamed steamed whole milk.

I paid $4.25 for a 12-oz Tall cup.

The spice blend includes ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, clover, and sugar. They added a really nice and festive accent to the milky coffee.

The milk wasn't micro-foamed so much as just plain foamed; it was less velvety (like micro foam) and more bubbly. The drink is supposed to be poured so that there's a white dot of milk in the center of a light brown blend of coffee and milk but my cup had more of an even cap of soap bubble-sized foam (they got a little bit closer the last time I tried a Starbucks Flat White).

The coffee wasn't particularly complex but offered a notable coffee taste with a light sweetness from the sugar.

Overall, Starbucks Holiday Spice Flat White was quite enjoyable despite the not-so-great execution. It brought to mind the holiday season with spice, warmth, and an unmistakable coffee flavor. Plus, the hint of sugar was a welcome change from the very sweet, flavored drinks that tend to occupy the holiday season.
