Wendy's Testing New Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich

Wendy's looks to see if fresh mozzarella in a chicken sandwich is something that might tickle their customers' fancy in a new product test.

The new Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich is being tested in the Pittsburgh, PA area as well as in Morgantown, WV. It features fresh mozzarella cheese, balsamic diced tomatoes, fresh spring mix, creamy basil pesto, and a grilled chicken filet on a toasted garlic brioche bun.

The sandwich comes out to about 420 calories and costs $4.89.

Fresh mozzarella is more common at fast casual pizzerias (especially with the recent influx of quick-bake pizza chains like Blaze Pizza and 800 Degrees) than at a fast food burger chain. Subway tested a Caprese last year with fresh mozzarella though (and Wendy's seems to adopt a similar feel with the balsamic diced tomatoes). It might be interesting if this makes it out of test as this promises to be more cheesy and creamy than the similarly-bunned Bacon Mozzarella Burger Wendy's put out earlier this year.
