Burger King's Bacon King features two quarter-pound beef patties, six strips of thick-cut bacon, two slices of American cheese, ketchup, and mayo on a toasted sesame seed bun.
I paid
$5.99 for one.
While the Bacon King doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of ingredients, it is a very hefty burger. The width of the burger is greater than a lot of sit-down places, although flatter as a result.
With a half-pound of beef, it's plenty meaty but without as much of that charred quality you'd expect from flame-broiling. It's joined by thoroughly melted cheese that's dwarfed by the extra-wide meat.
The bacon was plentiful and mostly crispy but lacked in flavor.
Of the sauces, the ketchup mostly prevailed over the mayo making the burger just a bit more tangy than I'd like (I'm sure it varies though).
The bottomline is the meat-and-cheese set will find enough to like about the Bacon King burger. It's basically a Double Whopper plus bacon but minus the vegetables and looks to measure up to some extent against Wendy's Baconator and Jack in the Box's Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger. Unless you have a heavier appetite, there's enough burger to feed two.
