Review: Jack in the Box - Sirloin Steak Melt

I decided to try Jack in the Box's Sirloin Steak Melt a couple of nights ago. I ordered a medium combo with Onion Rings and a "medium" 32oz. Orange Fanta... I think the large combo comes with a 44oz.(!) drink.  That's almost 4 cans of soda. As you can see from this close up, the cheese was nice and gooey and the bread was well toasted.

While the meat was fairly tender, it didn't really taste like steak. The sirloin steak was sliced and not whole which I prefer since whole steak usually makes for a chewy sandwich and ends with me accidentally pulling the entire steak out.

The Onion Rings were pretty good, breaded and not battered. They were cooked long enough so that the onion wasn't pulled right out of the breading when you bit into them.

I think it was about $7 for the combo due to the upcharge for onion rings.

  1. This picture makes this sandwich look tasty enough, however, every time I order a sandwich with the sourdough bread, mine never gets that toasted texture...it's always soft or soggy.

  2. I think that's just a fast food thing. I've never gotten a real toast texture either.
