A price of $2.79 puts the BK Breakfast Bowl in the range of BK's more "premium" bread breakfast sandwiches which feature sourdough bread or a croissant.
My local Burger King was pretty quiet at 9am, it could have been my imagination but I was struck by the lack of any sounds of cooking. I watched as my server grabbed a large plastic container from the warmer and spooned it into a bowl. I wondered if they had at least prepared it in house that morning or if it was just a frozen medley that they reheat in the morning. On the plus side, at least I knew that it would still taste the same later on if I threw it in the microwave.
So how was it? It was actually pretty good. I would say "very southwestern." Better than I imagined from reading the description. Initially, I from the look of it, I thought it would be too cheesy, but that wasn't the case at all. The potatoes looked neither roasted nor home-fried but they tasted fine. I did wonder if tater tots would have been a better, crispier, albeit unhealthier, choice.
I really liked the seasoned peppery taste of everything together. If you don't like bell peppers like a certain brother of mine, I would steer clear of this dish. I have to give the nod to Burger King's sausage patty, it's slight step above the other chains; nicely seasoned and not overly salty (for sausage anyway).
If I were getting breakfast at Burger King, the BK Breakfast Bowl would definitely be one of my top choices.
