On my first look inside the sandwich, I was pretty disappointed by what passes for an omelet at Burger King. It was more like half an omelet; dwarved by the other ingredients, and super thin to boot.
If there was any honey butter in the sandwich, my taste buds didn't notice it. There was a strong American cheese flavor, which is usually lost in a lot of other sandwiches. The bun was squishy soft. Some people like that, but I would prefer something closer to toasted for breakfast.
As with a lot of deli-meat based items, BK's Ham Omelet Sandwich has quite a bit of salt. I wouldn't say the amount of salt overwhelmed the sandwich, but the ham was rubbery and salty. Burger King should really consider smoked ham chunks mixed into the plain egg omelet, but that might be me asking for too much.
Overall though, my main disappointment was the pitiful egg omelet. Doubling the egg would go a long way towards improving the Ham Omelet Sandwich.
On a positive note, at least the sandwich only costs $1. But I'd sooner get the Sausage Biscuit for the same price; I like the biscuit better than the bun and it's harder to make a sausage biscuit at home.

You pretty much nailed it with the last line, Q. Sausage biscuits aren't as easy to make - it's rare that I have fresh sausage patties and they're more work to clean up. But putting egg/cheese/ham on an English Muffin is so simple that I can't ever see myself getting something like that from a fast food place.
ReplyDeletei really like this with some ketchup. that sauce they used is kinda sweet and i think maybe they forgot to put it on yours. i never really like the sausage biscuit. always just seemed like something was missing and would rather have the hardees sausage egg and cheese for $1.29 each limit 2 with the coupons that come in the mail every month
ReplyDeleteI would rather have a Hardee's Sausage, Egg and Cheese too and I've never even been to a Hardee's! There's only Carl's Jr. in CA and they don't have the same breakfast options such as made-from-scratch biscuits.
