Frozen Friday: Stouffer's - Meatloaf Dinner

Stouffer's Meatloaf Box
Stouffer's Meatloaf Dinner is a full pound of food, enough to feed two light eaters really, and contains two ketchup-glazed meatloaves in gravy with a side of whipped mashed potatoes. Despite being frozen food, it contains no artificial flavors or preservatives according to the box. It's usually priced at $3.99 at my local supermarket but I usually don't get it unless it's on sale for less than $2.

I like that they keep it simple with just meatloaf, gravy and mashed potatoes. I guess I'm just a meat-and-potatoes type of guy. It is also really easy to prepare: just take it out of the box and put it in the microwave for 7 minutes and you're good to go. No need to poke holes, rotate, or stir. Perfect couch potato food, no?

It tastes pretty good as well. The meatloaves are nice and coarsely ground with a nice tart sweetness from the ketchup. I'm not crazy with all the gravy that they give you and don't eat too much of it. It's a serviceable gravy though, if a bit on the thin side. The potatoes are good too; smooth and not too dry or watery.

  1. Just got one of these a little while back and have got them occasionally. I agree. I like these and they usually make two meals for me paired with a veggie side.

  2. Just got back from the Stouffer's outlet store outside of Cleveland. I love their food, but the salt, dear God, the salt.

  3. I just tell myself most of it's in the gravy ;P
