Frozen Friday: Claim Jumper - Chicken Pot Pie

Claim Jumper Chicken Pot Pie box
Claim Jumper's Chicken Pot Pie frozen dinner weighs in at a hefty 18 ounces (more than enough for two people) and features a flaky pie crust filled with the typical filling of chicken, peas, carrots, celery, and potatoes. They're usually around $4, but I got this one on sale for $1.50 on a particularly cheap sale at Ralph's.

Do be careful when you're cooking the pie in the microwave as they tend to spill out a bit. The box also tends to stick to the microwave or plate leaving sticky paper residue. I would recommend placing the box on some paper napkins before cooking.

Out of the microwave, you might want to break the crust a bit and let it cool ten minutes or so; the stew inside gets really hot.
Claim Jumper Chicken Pot Pie piping hot out of the microwave
I really like the super flaky crust; it's consistently crispy and flaky all around the pie. Pot pies come out really well out of the microwave ever since they invented that grey crisping material. The stew inside was fairly thick and featured nice big chunks of white meat chicken. The veggies were a bit sparse though, I mostly saw and tasted peas and not much of any other vegetables. I did share half with my brother though so maybe he stole them all.
Claim Jumper Chicken Pot Pie cracked open
Whatever the case, Claim Jumper makes a damn fine frozen pot pie. One of my favorite frozen food items for sure.

  4. I have been looking in all markets for these pot pies and they do not have them anywhere anymore.  They are the best frozen pot pies.  All the others are nothing compaired to these.

  5. I too am bummed Claim Jumper Chicken Pot Pies (the absolute BEST) have disappeared from the shelves.  A couple years ago I tried without luck to find out why my favorite (by far) Marie Callenders dinner entree was discontinued.
    Southern Fried Chicken Tenderloins
Was AWESOME.  Breaded Chicken tenders with cubed red potatoes in a fantastic cream sauce and carrots (not my favorite veggie) but  to-die-for in it's sweet sauce.  It was one that ALWAYS seemed to scarce on the shelf so it HAD TO BE one of their most popular.  Often I'd have to reach way back in the freezer to grab one.
All I can figure is that there is some a$$ at ConAgra determined to KEEP me pissed-off!

  7. I'm right there with all you guys!  Claim Jumper Pot Pies are the best I've ever tasted in my 54 years, besides homemade.  And I can't even get the stew taste right.  I've been checking grocery stores in several states without avail.  I'm absolutely bummed out.  I guess I'll just give up trying and will quit eating chicken pot pies.  Nothing can compare.

  9. Where are the chicken pot pies - not in ANY store in the Phoenix ares.
I suppose Bush will get blamed for this, too.

Come on ConAgra dump some of the funny items and return the CPP.
Or, give the recipe to Marie Calendar if you are not going to use it.

  10. Has ConAgra even tried tasting Claim Jumper Frozen Chicken Pot Pies? If they have developed their tastebuds beyond that of a 7 yr. old, then they would know that bland Marie Calendar’s chicken pot pie DOES NOT EVEN COMPARE to Claim Jumper Frozen Chicken Pot Pies!!! I found out, as an optional method, that if you ignore their directions and cook it at ~2 hr and 10 minutes at 350 degrees this will probably be THE BEST Chicken Pot Pie you ever had!!!!!!!! Plan ahead, this pie is WELL WORTH THE WAIT. ConAgra maybe if the pie was smaller and cost less it would sell better. I can never finish Claim Jumper’s Chicken Pot Pit by myself. ConAgra please bring it back, with my optional cooking method. I believe sales will go thru the roof!!!! Roger Atkinson

  30. I am having a hard time finding the claim jumper meat pies at any grocery store in salt lake city. It seems that they were in the stores about a year ago, and I would buy them all the time. I loved the flakey crust. Then all of a sudden, you cant buy them anywhere!

  31. If you read the comments you'd know they apparently discontinued this brand roughly 2 years ago.
