Sonic makes a fairly decent, thick chili and the cheese is nice and melted, but I've always thought that Fritos were too salty and adding more salt (in the form of chili and cheese) just makes it that much less enjoyable. I can eat maybe a couple of chips, but after that it's just too salty for my liking.
Still, if you like Fritos Pie and don't feel like baking your own, Sonic is the only joint I know of where you can get your fix.

I use to eat Fritos Chili Pie in the south all the time. Now i am wanting one up here in the north, just open on in Sandusky,OH and it was not on the menu. I think the chili tot's took its place.

ReplyDeleteConceivably, I envision that consuming the Sonic concoction would be easier than the typical offering elsewhere that uses the typical larger nacho-style chips.
Especially when the messy part of the meal is arrived at and to avoid/evade excessive messiness and spilled ingredients upon one's self a spoon or fork or both is used to transport the fodder to one's mouth.
The smaller Frito-type chips would surely be easier to pick up with the typical plastic fork, spoon or spork provided.
Larger nacho-style chips in their effort to escape the probing instrument that will lead to their demise, of being rent asunder by gnashing, chomping teeth are capable of clutching tightly together with the assistance of their friend Mr. Cheese Sauce.
Mr. Spork etc. often have trouble overcoming the natural coziness of Mr. nacho Chip and Mr. Cheese Sauce.
As the chip pile diminishes with the nachos there are usually fewer chips with a non-goody covered corner to grasp; requiring a device to transport food to mouth.
Of course, where there is a will there is sometimes a way and maybe the Frito-type chip brothers and the enveloping condiments valiantly struggle to fight back by clutching each other so tightly that prying and lifting equipment renders a HUGE glob of unified grub too large to enter the gaping maw, that hole in the middle of the eater's head.
Further research required.
OMG!!! I just had a Fritos Chili Pie from Sonic and it was delicious. FOr that five minuets I was in heaven.
