Frozen Friday: Claim Jumper - Frozen Buffalo Wings

Claim Jumper's frozen Buffalo Wings feature fully cooked buffalo style chicken wing portions and drumlettes with a hot spicy sauce included. It carries a pricey retail of about $9.99 for a little more than a pound of food (1 pound and 6 ounces to be exact) though is occasionally on sale for around $7.99.

For the price, you get about 13 or 14 wing pieces or so which which is comparable to your supermarket deli prices but is a little pricier than Pizza Hut's 50 Cent Wing Wednesdays. Plus with your supermarket deli and Pizza Hut you don't have to cook anything (though you do have to pick it up or pay for delivery).
Having tried Claim Jumper's frozen Baby Back Pork Ribs, I didn't have high hopes for their Buffalo Wings but they actually turned out pretty good both visually and tastewise. You can just pop them into the toaster oven for about 15 minutes to bake (or rather reheat) them. It gives them a nice, slight crispiness.
The wings are actually seasoned with vinegar, garlic, spices, and cayenne pepper giving them a savory and spicy buffalo flavor that works quite well on their own even without the accompanying sauce. In fact, I preferred eating them without the sauce which was a little too sour and vinegary when paired with the chicken.

I actually liked Claim Jumper's Buffalo Wings better than Pizza Hut's version, but still, $9.99 (or $7.99) for frozen food for two is difficult to get your head or wallet to accept.

  1. All the stores in my area have removed the buffalo wings where can I buy them in Merced or Stanislaus Counties California?

  2. You might be out of luck. Con Agra bought out the brand and seems to be scaling the products back by a lot. I can't find the pot pie anymore! T_T
