Chipotle's Chicken Burrito Bowl is their Chicken Burrito built the way you like it, sans the flour tortilla, served in a bowl. The price is the same as a Chicken Burrito at $5.69 but the eating is actually neater with a spoon or fork.
I think I like getting my burrito as a bowl rather than the traditional method; the flour tortilla is just to hold everything together and gets soggy if you save some for later. Also, they roll the burrito rather fat so I almost inevitably lose some of the stuffing while eating.
I don't know why I chose to get lettuce. What kind of bowl is full of lettuce? A salad bowl that's what. I think I went a little too crazy having them add everything but the lettuce is the only thing I regret.
I tried the spicy red tomatillo sauce for the first time and really liked it; it's like a red sauce and add as good amount of heat that I enjoyed. The chicken was well-seasoned and have that slightly charred flavor that only an open flame can give. Combined with the rice, the three salsas, the beans, and the cheese, there was a lot of flavors going on with my Burrito Bowl and I enjoyed it heartily. It's a pretty good value since there was enough food to feed me for two meals.
The only thing I would change next time would be to get more rice and zero lettuce.

"The only thing I would change next time would be to get more rice and zeor lettuce." Erm...What exactly is a 'zeor'?
ReplyDeleteWhat?! You've never heard of "zeor?!" That's good because I meant to type "zero." Haha, I fixed it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI always get the bowl at Chipotle. I actually like adding lettuce to mine though! I even put in the sour cream. But yes, for some reason the bowl tastes even better than the burrito. Probably because you control exactly which flavor combinations you get in each bite, whereas in a burrito sometimes bites are missing components.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that's it. It's easier to get the perfect bite. I thought about sour cream. I don't hate it but I don't love it either so I figure I'd save some calories.
ReplyDeleteI always get the burrito bowl but I ask for two tortillas on the side (which they give you free of charge). They wrap the tortillas separately in foil, so it's perfect if i want to take my leftovers home (which I always do!). I always get extra rice, extra beans, chicken or steak, extra corn, and a little bit of all the other salsas... I'm crazy. The bowl ends up weighing way more than necessary, and I'm so sure that all of it could not fit properly if wrapped up in burrito form!
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's like your own mini-Burrito bar.
ReplyDelete685 calories, 21.5g fat, 2361.5mg sodium.. Asides from having a whole day worth of sodium, it's not all that terrible for you. Good thing you skipped the tortilla. It has 290 calories, 9g fat, and 670mg sodium before you even stuff it with the other crap.
ReplyDeleteWow!! My absolute favorite is the Chicken Fajita bowl!! To die for!!
