Review: Pollo Campero - Fried Chicken Wrap

Pollo Campero has it's own take on the popular snack wrap with their plainly named Fried Chicken Wrap which features a piece of their fried chicken strips, tomato salsa, and rice wrapped in a flour tortilla. Each Fried Chicken Wrap costs $1.99.

A fried chicken strip with salsa and lightly seasoned rice sounds like it'd be pretty good but Pollo Campero's execution leaves a bit to be desired. The salsa was a too plain and mostly tomato; even a jar of store-bought salsa would have been more interesting.
The rice was a little similar to Chipotle's cilantro-lime rice but not as flavorful and served mostly as filler.

The chicken had some crunch, was moist, and had good flavor but it certainly did not make up for the general "blah"-ness of everything else.

  1. Wikipedia told me about a chain I have never visited or even heard of before.

Golly shucks, just how MANY fast-food venues can the USA support?

I did some basic research and noted how fast-food joints appear, some growing a little, some none, some a lot, some expanding regionally or here and there across the USA and various growth-types over the years.

    A complicated scenario, kids.

Heck, enough info involved to fill a book or even several books depending upon the detail delved into per firm.

Wikipedia.org is a good place to learn about past and still-existing firms BUT... it takes a yummy blog such as Brand Eating for current information such as taste reviews, info about new products, etc.

Oh, and the pictures of the food discussed.

When the "Sniffometer" is perfected and becomes available we may be able to smell the pics.

I don't know if a "taste-o-meter" will ever appear and I don't know if I would want to be licking my monitor screen.
