Review: Starbucks - Berry Hibiscus Refresher

Starbucks' Berry Hibiscus Refresher features the taste of black berries (with actual black berries in the drink) and hibiscus flowers along with green (unroasted) coffee beans to give you that coffee caffeine kick without the coffee flavor.

It's $2.95 for a 12-ounce Tall and 50 cent more for each size up.

Like the name suggests, the Berry Hibiscus Refresher is pretty refreshing especially with the heat rolling in this summer. It brings to mind flavored water and reminds me a fair bit of Vitamin Water.
I tasted mostly berry flavor with some slight floral notes, but without that huge hit of sugar that usually accompanies berry drinks. I'm not sure if it's artificially sweetened or not but it only has 11 grams of sugar for a 12-ounce Tall. The smaller amount of sugar really makes for a more understated, but still enjoyable drinking experience.

Caffeine doesn't really effect me, so I can't really tell you how much of a caffeine rush this will give you.

  1. I had it today and it had a bitter aftertaste.  Not good!

I love the Berry Hibiscus Drink!! Disagree about an aftertaste. Refreshing to have a light drink, not so sweet and with less calories. So yes, I will swing by Starbucks in Macy's for this kind of refreshing drink anytime! Ty

  4. I tried this at a target starbucks and found it to be really bitter for some reason. not very sweet, berry seeds everywhere. I'll try again with the lime next time. pretty color, though.

  5. It seems some people taste a bitter aftertaste and some don't. I'm not sure if it's the green coffee or what.
