Review: Pizza Hut - Spicy Sicilian Hand-Tossed Pizza

Pizza Hut's Spicy Sicilian Hand-Tossed Pizza is one of their specialty pizza and features toppings of beef, Italian sausage, onions, and jalapenos.

As with most of their specialty pizza, a large will run you $12.

Here in the U.S., normally when you order a "Sicilian pizza," you typically get a square pizza pie with a fairly thick crust (if you google "Sicilian pizza," you'll see what I mean). Just as a forewarning, that's not what you're going to get from Pizza Hut. I have no idea why they call it a Sicilian pizza at all.
While I like Pizza Hut's hand-tossed better than their pan pizza, it's very vanilla; I guess that's what it takes to be #1 in the pizza game. The crust is too dense with no sizable air pockets and is a bit dry. Additionally, it's fairly bland with a slight bit of sweetness. It's crusty but not the right crusty.

As for the Spicy Sicilian, there's not much pizza sauce and the ground beef and Italian sausage somewhat indistinguishable from one another in taste as well as texture. They could have just put one or the other and I don't think I'd be able to tell.
I did like that the onions added a nice change of texture and sweetness and the jalapenos added the occasional spot of heat.

Overall, this was a "miss" for me. I'd rather go with a Supreme and sprinkle on red pepper flakes for heat.
