Review: Wendy's Spicy Bacon & Blue Chicken Sandwich

Wendy's Spicy Bacon & Blue Chicken Sandwich is something they've been testing here and there and features a crispy fried spicy chicken filet, lettuce, tomato, thick applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, and the same steakhouse sauce they used on the Bacon & Blue Cheeseburger.

It's a buck more than the regular Spicy Chicken Sandwich at my local Wendy's coming in at $4.99.

So how was it?
Let's put it this way: if you put take a spicy chicken filet, bacon, blue cheese, and a mayo-based sauce all together, it's pretty salty. Especially, when you only balance it against a single leaf of iceberg lettuce and a very squishy bun.

I would not have minded at all if they put a 4 or 5 or even 6 more leaves of lettuce in the sandwich.
I'm not a big fan of blue cheese but it really doesn't matter here because the blue cheese that Wendy's uses is super mild and doesn't have that blue cheese taste. It's more like a creamy, almost buttery soft cheese. It was also especially salty for cheese.

The chicken wasn't  particularly moist or dry, falling somewhere in between and was reasonably crunchy and just a little spicy.

While I liked the differently flavors of Wendy's Spicy Bacon & Blue Chicken Sandwich, it was just too salty to be a very enjoyable eating experience. More lettuce would have really helped.
