Review: Taco Bell - Cheesy Gordita Crunch

Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordita Crunch is basically a Crunchy Taco with a pepper jack sauce wrapped in a soft Gordita shell and bound together with a melted blend of pepper jack, cheddar, and mozzarella.

It sells for $2.19 at my local Taco Bell or you can get one as part of a $5 Big Box Meal.

Out of the wrapper, the Cheesy Gordita Crunch gives you a thick, pillowy flatbread with just the slightest hint of crust. Notably, the taco shell was actually still crispy and provided a very nice contrast of texture.

The problem for me was that overall it was not exactly cheesy. I got the "gordita" and I got the "crunch," but the "cheesy" was a bit lacking. You can see from the pictures that there wasn't that much cheese to go around. There's a pepper jack sauce but it's more of a mayo variant. I think a nacho cheese sauce would have been better.

Whether by mistake or by design, my Gordita Crunch was a bit lacking in the meat department. As I ate it, I found this was partially because most of the beef had been placed in the middle. Still, even in the middle, I wanted more beef especially to counter balance the thick flatbread.

Overall, I still enjoyed the Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I liked the crunchy of the taco shell and the dense softness of the gordita. And, I liked the standard Crunchy Taco taste but wanted more of the "cheesy."
