Review: Burger King - BK Strawberry Banana Smoothie

The Strawberry Banana Smoothie is pretty much the standard in the smoothie world so it's no surprise that, following in the footsteps of McDonald's, Burger King now has their own BK Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Like McDonald's, they also advertise them as "Real Fruit Smoothies." Real Fruit as in fruit purees and juices in a pre-mixed base that they blend with ice and low-fat vanilla yogurt (also same as McDonald's).

A 12-ounce cup goes for $2.49 but a Memorial Day weekend promotion meant I snatched one up for $1.

Of course, the $1 Frappe and Smoothies promotion also meant my local Burger King pre-blended these into large pitchers and poured them into cups as the orders came in. Basically, this meant my smoothie slightly more liquid than standard.

I didn't really get a sense of any yogurt creaminess or tartness in my smoothie. I did get a pleasant blend of strawberry and banana. It could have been a little thicker, but that's what happens when you pre-blend and refrigerate smoothies. At least it was blended to an even consistency.

The BK Strawberry Banana Smoothie was a little on the sweet side; I didn't mind it, but some might.

The strawberry and banana flavors could have been pronounced, but I'm fine with the flavor. It's pretty similar to McDonald's version although that had a bit more yogurt to it. Still, the BK Strawberry Banana Smoothie presents a good mix of banana and strawberry flavors in a semi-frozen drink.

I would caution against drinking one of these as a healthy drink though; it does have quite a bit of added sugar.
