Review: McDonald's - Cherry Berry Chiller

McDonald's Cherry Berry Chiller is an ice-slush drink made by blending a 100% fruit juice base with ice. It uses a combinations of apple, grape, and raspberry juice plus cherry puree to achieve a cherry raspberry flavor.

I actually tried this twice, it was $2.29 for a 12-ounce small in San Francisco but only $1.49 for the same in central California. San Francisco has a pretty high cost of living though.

The Cherry Berry Chiller is like this summer's Frozen Strawberry Lemonade (launched last year by McDonald's). But where I didn't care too much for the Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, the Cherry Berry Chiller was pretty tasty.

It's well blended with a fine, icy consistency throughout; no irregular ice chunks in the ones I drank. It's refreshing and cold on a hot day but watch out for brain freeze.

Flavor-wise, it's on the sweet side (perhaps too sweet for some) with plenty of tart cherry berry flavor. There's no icy wateriness and no cloying syrupy thickness.

I'm guessing you could make the same with some ice, a blender, and some Minute Maid juices but, McDonald's does it pretty good with the Cherry Berry Chiller and I imagine they'll sell quite a few of these as the summer set in.
