News: McDonald's Testing Clubhouse Angus in San Diego

McDonald's is testing a new variant of their Angus Third Pounders in San Diego called the Clubhouse Angus Burger.

Distinguishing features of the limited-time burger include hickory-smoked bacon, white cheddar and American cheese, grilled onions, tangy steak sauce, smoky Dijon mustard, and a third-pound Angus beef patty on an artisan roll flecked with sesame and poppy seeds.

BurgerBusiness writes that the burger is the same as the one tested in Illinois last summer as the English Pub Burger (which had a much to do with an English pub as one of McDonald's New York burgers abroad have to do with the actual city). The price of a Clubhouse Angus is reported as $4.59.

If you happen to be in the San Diego area, McDonald's has a coupon for a free medium order of fries and a drink with the purchase of a Clubhouse Angus Burger. You can get that here (expires 7/30/12).

The last time McDonald's was testing a new menu item out in San Diego, it ended up making the national menu for a limited time, so cross your fingers if the Clubhouse Angus sounds like your type of burger.

    Gulp.

    Not the burger.

Us commoners at the bottom of the pyramid-shaped socio-economic pile cringe at the thought of tossing that many monetary units across the counter for but one burger.

Oh will I ever win the Lottery for mega-bucks so that my discretionary income would allow better than a mere existence level?
