Review: Burger King - Caramel Frappé

Burger King's Caramel Frappé is part of their recent more-than-McDonald-like menu expansion. Even carrying the same name as its McDonald's counterpart, Burger King's Caramel Frappé similarly blends ice, caramel, and a hint of coffee before garnishing with whipped topping and caramel syrup.

A 12-ounce cup goes for $2.49 at my local BK, but buying one during the Memorial Day promotion only cost me a buck.

Typically, a Burger King employee will make one of these by blending a pre-mixed base and ice before pouring it into a cup and piping some whipped topping on and giving a squeeze of caramel syrup. They were pre-blended and poured from a large pitcher for the promotion though.

Maybe it was because I had low expectation from the mocha version, but I really liked Burger King's Caramel Frappe.

It was blended to an even consistency and contained a pleasant creaminess. It's cool and refreshing in the heat of summer.

Where the Mocha Frappe barely managed a dull cocoa flavor, the Caramel Frappé toed the line between pretty sweet and way too sweet while bringing a pronounced, distinct caramel flavor with maybe the slightest hint of coffee. More so than usual with these ice-blended coffee drinks, Burger King's Caramel Frappé is more a drink for caramel and sugar lovers than for coffee lovers. Still, the overall result is highly enjoyable.
