News: Burger King - New Gingerbread Cookie Sundae and Shake

Burger King offers up the taste of gingerbread cookies this holiday season with new, limited time Gingerbread Cookie Sundaes and Shakes.

Leapfrogging the more mainstream pumpkin and egg nog flavors, Burger King goes with the lesser used gingerbread. I can't remember any of the major chains doing gingerbread really.

The Gingerbread Cookie Sundae features vanilla soft serve sprinkled with gingersnap cookie crumbles and topped with gingerbread sauce for a suggested retail of $2.49.

The Gingerbread Cookie Shake blends up vanilla soft serve with gingerbread syrup and is topped with whipped topping and crumbled gingersnaps and is offered at a suggested retail price of $1.99.

Both desserts are offered for a limited time while supplies last.

  1. Gosh, the promo pic for the sundae looks so appetizing (but unrealistic). The shake seems like it would be a much better value, though, since it looks like you get a lot more ounce-wise with the shake for a smaller price.

  2. I interpret the marketing ploy as an act of desperation.

True, except that the shake has far more calories.

  4. I don't care for Burger King at all and haven't set foot inside one in years. This gingerbread shake might persuade me to give them another chance.

  6. I want to try it, too. I'm confused why the sundae costs more even though it's considerably smaller. Does more work go into making it? Do the sundae cups cost more than the shake cups? Odd. I'm definitely going with the sundae, though. The smallest shake size is some 450+ calories; the sundae is about 350.

  8. I tried the shake, and was pretty impressed... first of all, yes, it is quite the sugar bomb; the small size was plenty for me. I think what made it even better than average was that when I asked for it without the whipped cream (I always skip the whipped cream on shakes; I just don't like it), the BK employee behind the counter asked, "would you like me to just blend the cookie pieces into the shake then, instead of sprinkling them on top?" This turned out to be a great suggestion; my shake was filled with bits of spicy-sweet gingerbread cookies, which added flavor and texture, and made it seem more "balanced" as opposed to just "overbearing sweetness". I highly recommend trying the shake with the cookie pieces blended in instead of just on the top.

  9. The service at your local BK is a lot better than mine. Mine's is slow and they tend to be out of it...

  10. i don't know what they used in this....while it is very good it spilled in my car and the whipped cream stained my carpet as if it were bleach. I can not get it out. Not saying they put bleach in it just that it stained that way.
