News: McDonald's Testing Steak and Egg McMuffins and Biscuits

McDonald's is still working on their breakfast steak options and currently conducting a limited-time test of a Steak and Egg McMuffin and Steak and Egg Biscuit out in Ohio.

The steak is described as "thick and juicy," "savory," and "seasoned just right."

Beyond your choice of English muffin or biscuit, each sandwich comes with steak, grilled onions, folded eggs, and melted American cheese.

Verified locations include McDonald's restaurants in Lima, Bluffton, Ada, Delphos, Van Wert, and Beaverdam

Apparently, McDonald's has been testing the Steak McMuffin since at least 2010, so you can consider this a long work-in-progress. The steak in the latest test looks a lot more burger-like though.

McDonald's has previously offered a Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel, but it seems to have been discontinued nationally and can only be found at some restaurants here and there.

Up in the Great White North (i.e. Canada), steak is also making a limited time appearance with the Steak 'n Egg Bagel which is slightly different in it contains HP sauce (a similar-but-not-the-same sauce to A1) in addition to steaks, egg, onions, and cheese.

  1. That doesn't look so much like steak as it does a peppered burger patty.

  2. I had a steak and egg bagel at a McDonalds at a Love's truck stop in Indiana. The 'steak' was a patty, not sliced steak. It was spiced differently than their burgers. It was okay, nothing great. I did like the bagel though.

  3. Chopped, formed, ground, Salisbury; whatever term is used, in a general way I interpret many fast-food offerings to fall under a generic classification of "anti-Arbys" with the Arbys consideration referring to their actually thinly slicing cow to create their edible offering.

  4. I liked it but I think I could do a better one. McDonalds needs to come up with an ultimate Egg McMuffin. Like put the sausage and Canadian bacon together. Actually they should put the Hashbrown pattie in the sandwich. I do it all the time at home and when I go to McDonalds.

  5. A couple of years ago McDonalds was "testing" a new steak, it was thin sliced brown meat, it tasted like metal. I got to try one and after one bite I told them keep it the patty was better. Glad they didn't replace the original steak patty with that, I haven't tried the newest.
