A small goes for $2.29, but I got this one for free courtesy of a coupon provided by McDonald's.
The first thing I noticed was a pleasant vanilla aroma from sniffing the cup. The temperature of the cup was hot, but just cool enough to drink. While this is nice if you're sitting down to linger over a cup like I was, I worry that if you're getting it to-go, like many do, you end up with a lukewarm cup by the time you drink it.
If you're turned off by the darker roast of Starbucks, McDonald's offers a smoother coffee bean roast. There was a decent vanilla flavor though none of the eggy custard taste of that I think when of when I think "French Vanilla."
Still, it was pretty good coffee; not too sweet nor bitter and tempered with the creaminess of the milk.
Overall, a very nice cup of coffee. I've never had a hot Vanilla Latte from McDonald's before, but I have tried an iced one; this was much better than the iced version with the old syrup.

It took me a while but I finally used one of your coupons to get this (I only kept one pair and gave the other two away). And as you suspected, getting it to-go meant that it was a pretty lukewarm cup of coffee... It wasn't too bad, a nice strong vanilla flavor and not overly sweet but I found the coffee taste pretty weak. It was like drinking coffee flavored water which isn't my thing. It's not horrible but not the best either.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I find that's often the case with flavored coffee though.
