News: Panera Bread Unveils "Hidden Menu"

Where a few chains have so-called "secret menus," Panera Bread now offers a "Hidden Menu," because secret menus are so passe.

Where some secret menus come about by consistent customer requests throughout the years, Panera just made this one up on their own (it was "developed" by Scott Davis, Panera Bread's Chief Concept Officer) and tested in New York last November.

While you won't find mention of the Hidden Menu at any Panera location, you can rest assured that the employees at every location will know exactly what you are talking about when you order from it, which would be hit or miss if you tried the same at Starbucks or McDonald's.

It's more like a high-protein, low processed-carbs menu.

Here's what you'll find on Panera's Hidden Menu (it really should be called the "Power Menu;" they use it as a buzzword in the name of every dish on the menu):

Power Breakfast Egg White Bowl with Roasted Turkey - Sliced roasted all-natural turkey, egg whites, warm baby spinach, roasted peppers, and basil pesto.

Power Breakfast Egg Bowl with Steak - Sliced top sirloin steak, two all-natural eggs, sliced avocados, and sliced tomatoes.

Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad - A salad made with sliced, all-natural chicken, baby spinach, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, applewood-smoked bacon, diced eggs, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil.

Power Mediterranean Roasted Turkey Salad - A salad with sliced, all-natural roasted turkey, baby spinach, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil.

Power Chicken Hummus Bowl - Sliced all-natural chicken, with cilantro jalapeno hummus, baby spinach, cucumbers, diced tomatoes, red onions, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and fresh-chopped cilantro.

Power Steak Lettuce Wraps - Sliced top-sirloin, leaf lettuce, cucumbers, diced tomatoes, red onions, basil pesto, and fresh-squeezed lemon juice.

  1. So what's the "secret"? Even smaller portions than the regular menu but at the same prices? They found someone to make a bag of chips smaller than the airline size they currently sell? That you only really get 1/5 of the meat they show in the pictures?

I'll be it all of those!

  2. I got it today and it is actually a full salad! The secret is that there are no added sugars, no refined carbs, and a healthy dressing (olive oil and lemon juice) Check out "The Four-Hour Body" and the slow carb diet as this menu looks like it was designed for the book

  3. Did you even look at the menu items? Congratulations, you completely missed the point of adding menu items such as these. "I want big portions." Typical. These menu items don't even slightly resemble their other food options, thank GOD.
