Review: Burger King - Molten Fudge Sundae

Burger King's limited-time Molten Fudge Sundae is basically chocolate-caramel sundae topped with their new Molten Fudge Bites. Molten Fudge Bites are donut-hole-sized balls of fudge brownie filled with a liquid chocolate filling, served hot and dusted with powder sugar.

The sundae was $2.49 at my local Burger King.

I actually meant to order Molten Fudge Bites but somehow the Burger King cashier misheard me... I briefly considered returning it for the correct order but didn't want to waste the food so here we are:

Each sundae comes with two molten fudge bites: one is placed on the bottom of the cup before the vanilla soft served is pulled and the other garnishes the sundae on top.

The bites have a slightly hardened crust to them (from baking I imagine); the powdered sugar is for decoration more than anything. The top molten bite was actually hot, while the bottom one turned cold from the soft serve.

The liquid chocolate filling soaked the interior of the brownie and it's a bit soggy as a result. The chocolate flavor is decent, but not particularly rich. I didn't feel they went particularly with the sundae; I think I would have preferred a dense, moist brownie.

The sundae itself is pretty yum. The soft serve was smooth and paired with the chocolate and caramel syrup, it makes for a great combination. I try to get a chocolate and caramel sundae from McDonald's sometimes, but it has yielded varying results: sometimes they'd do it for free, sometimes they'll charge me, and sometimes they won't do it at all... Burger King's sundaes are very similar and comparable to McDonald's except BK doesn't offer chopped peanuts. My local Burger King is a bit wonky so I haven't tried to order the same combination there.

Overall, the Molten Fudge Bites in the Molten Fudge Sundae were just okay and were overshadowed by the chocolate syrup and caramel syrup pairing. The rest of the sundae was quite good though.
