A 15-ounce can is normally about $2.99 at the supermarket.
The chicken didn't look too appetizing; it was a little pink like canned chicken is sometimes. The taste was fine and the texture was okay, but it wasn't exactly tender. It was pretty normal chicken for canned soups.
There's a good amount of chicken, dumplings, and vegetables in the soup which is always nice. The flavors were good and everything was pretty soft. I especially liked the choice of peas and corn; they add a bit of sweetness. I didn't really detect any herbiness to the dumplings though; they just tasted like boiled dough.
The broth itself is fairly thick, but could use some more seasoning for nuance.
Overall, Marie Callender's Chicken and Dumplings Soup is pretty good, but not great. It's hearty with plentiful ingredients and thick broth. If it doesn't inspire, it doesn't lack either.
