Private Selection is Ralph's brand for "premium" food items.
A 6-ounce box goes for $2.99.
I was expecting these to be bigger, they're mostly just a little larger in diameter than an Oreo cookie sandwich and just slightly thinner in width. I say mostly because they're not uniform in size. One was noticeably smaller than the others.
The white chocolate covers about half the cookie and makes them a bit messy to eat as the white chocolate is quite soft. The layer is fairly thick and a bit excessive given the general sweetness of white chocolate. I would think that a semi-sweet dark chocolate layer would have paired better with raspberry, but that's just me (of course, a semi-sweet dark chocolate layer would probably cost more).
The shortbread portion is decently buttery but tends to be covered up by the white chocolate layer. The raspberries delivered a light flavor but were hardened, chewy, and stuck to my teeth. None of those are things you want in a cookie you'd serve to guests (which are what the box suggests you should do).
Texture wise, the shortbread is decently crunchy and a bit crumbly. They're somewhat similar to Danish butter cookies but less dense.
Between the white chocolate and the hard almost grainy raspberry bits (I honestly thought they were nuts at one point), I really did not care for Private Selection Raspberry Shortbread Cookies. I would have been much happier with a plain shortbread cookie.
