News: DiGiorno - New Pizzeria Pizza

DiGiorno's newest pizza offering is Pizzeria (stylized "pizzeria!") pizza, which aims to bring a pizzeria pizza taste that bakes up in your oven in a little more than 20 minutes.

The tagline on the box says "pizzeria style crust. created with care." But not capitalization.

The crust is preservative free and meant to be crispy on the outside, while soft and airy inside, and is drizzled with extra virgin olive oil (or EVOO for the acronym-inclined). Other selling points include a "flavorful sauce with vine ripened-tomatoes," premium toppings, and no artificial flavors.

You'll notice the crust has a slightly irregular flower-like shape rather than the typical round, which I think is supposed to make you think someone made it by hand. Never mind that most pizzeria pizzas are typically round...

The new Pizzeria pizza comes in four varieties:

Quattro Formaggi/Four Cheese - mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, and pecorino romano cheeses.

Supreme Speciale - Italian sausage, premium pepperoni, red and green peppers and caramelized onions.

Primo Pepperoni - pepperoni.

Italian Meat Trio - pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Genoa salami.

I'm not quite sure why they decided to call it "pizzeria!" rather than "Pizzeria," but it's not like anyone is ever going to say "I just ate a pizzeria! pizza," well, except maybe in mockery.

They look to be priced in line with DiGiorno's other pizzas which is around $6 to $7.

If you're looking to try it, Nestle/DiGiorno currently has a $2 off coupon available online.
