The tagline on the box says "pizzeria style crust. created with care." But not capitalization.
The crust is preservative free and meant to be crispy on the outside, while soft and airy inside, and is drizzled with extra virgin olive oil (or EVOO for the acronym-inclined). Other selling points include a "flavorful sauce with vine ripened-tomatoes," premium toppings, and no artificial flavors.
You'll notice the crust has a slightly irregular flower-like shape rather than the typical round, which I think is supposed to make you think someone made it by hand. Never mind that most pizzeria pizzas are typically round...
The new Pizzeria pizza comes in four varieties:
Quattro Formaggi/Four Cheese - mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, and pecorino romano cheeses.
Supreme Speciale - Italian sausage, premium pepperoni, red and green peppers and caramelized onions.
Primo Pepperoni - pepperoni.
Italian Meat Trio - pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Genoa salami.
I'm not quite sure why they decided to call it "pizzeria!" rather than "Pizzeria," but it's not like anyone is ever going to say "I just ate a pizzeria! pizza," well, except maybe in mockery.
They look to be priced in line with DiGiorno's other pizzas which is around $6 to $7.

had one of these recently, the pepperoni one. It's pretty tasty as far as frozen pizzas go, and i hate digiorno's regular pizzas. there is a nice zing from the basil or oregano sprinkled over top, and the crust has a sort of pizzeria style crunch and taste.. seems less... artificial, i'm definitely buying again.
ReplyDeleteI eat an appalling amount of frozen pizza and these were the best I've had in years
ReplyDeleteI do not like frozen pizzas at all- BUT - I tried the Supreme Speciale and it is REALLY GOOD! Great crust and flavor ! Highly recommend! And, I do not like their other frozen pizzas.
ReplyDeleteGood to know these are reviewing well. Ate a regular one last night and literally stopped eating the crust after 2 bites. It was WORSE than cardboard. Ate the top off a few slices. Then told my wife that the dog had a better dinner than I did.
