Review: McDonald's Crispy Chicken and Ranch McWrap

McDonald's Crispy Chicken and Ranch McWrap is the last of the McWrap Trio that I tried. It features crispy chicken breast strips, two half slices of tomato, cucumber slices, spring greens, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar jack cheese, seasoned rice vinegar, and buttermilk ranch sauce for $3.99.

The container for the McWrap features a tear-strip a bit more than midway through that makes it easy to unwrap. The smaller half of the container serves as a holder while you eat and helps it hold it's shape.

The most significant difference of this one from the Chicken and Bacon and the Sweet Chili version is the seasoned rice vinegar. Seasoned rice vinegar isn't something I'd thought I'd ever see at McDonald's, but here it is. It offers a light bit of sweetness with just a slight tang that meshes well with the creamy ranch sauce. Most of the flavor in the McWrap comes from the sauce and the crispy chicken.

The chicken got a little soggy from the sauce, but manages to retain some crunchiness. The meat itself is most and the breading offers a good amount of seasoned flavor.

The vegetable mix here includes cucumber and tomatoes, but my cucumbers were few in number and small to boot in comparison to the Sweet Chili McWrap that I tried. The tomato slices had problems shining through over the other ingredients and the greens were a bit tasteless.

I don't know why the cheese is even there. It doesn't provide any flavor and I can't even tell if it's there while I'm eating the McWrap. If you want to cut back on the McWrap's calorie and fat count, you can safely forego the cheese. You probably won't miss it.

Even with lackluster veggies, the chicken plus the mix of rice vinegar and ranch provide a good combination of enjoyable flavors in McDonald's Crispy Chicken and Ranch McWrap.

Having tried all three version of the McWrap, I would recommend the Sweet Chili version and Ranch over the Chicken and Bacon, which surprises me because I love bacon. Between the Sweet Chili and the Ranch, I would go with the Sweet Chili for that slight bit of heat. For the price, they compare very well to McDonald's premium chicken sandwiches and offer a bit more in the way of veggies.
