Review: Panera Bread - Bacon Turkey Bravo Sandwich

Panera Bread's Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich is one of their signature sandwiches and features smoked turkey breast, bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce, tomatoes, and their signature dressing, on Tomato Basil bread.

They typically go for about $7 for a whole sandwich. I got this half-sandwich for free at lunch while visiting Ben & Jerry's headquarters (I bet you're surprised it's not an ice cream sandwich!).

I wouldn't have known the bread was tomato basil if I hadn't read the description off of the Panera website. It just tastes like wonderfully soft white or wheat sandwich bread, but not so much like tomato or basil.

The turkey was moist and flavorful, the bacon was crunchy, and the tomatoes were fresh. I especially liked the cheese which was a bona fide smoked gouda with the creamy texture and smoky flavor that comes with. The bacon accented the Gouda really well. I could have used a bit more green leaf lettuce though.

The signature dressing was slightly creamy, tangy and sweet. It wasn't too heavy and I liked the flavor. It's like a sweet tomato-y mayo. The sandwich is sprinkled with a bit of salt and pepper inside for seasoning.

All-in-all, Panera's Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich takes the standard turkey and bacon sandwich and gives it the right tweaks to make a more interesting and well-balanced eating experience.
