Update 5/8/14 - It's now been released nationally for a limited time as the "Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Loco Tacos." They changed it to "Spicy" since they already have the Fiery Doritos Locos Taco.
The price was 79 cents for the regular and 99 cents for the Supreme.
The shredded chicken is the same chicken used in the Shredded Chicken Mini Quesadilla ,which is also being tested by Taco Bell. Its flavor profile is similar to Taco Bell's seasoned beef, but with underlying chicken notes. The texture reminds me a bit of canned chicken chunks if you shredded them.
The Fiery Sauce is very similar to Taco Bell's current Chipotle Sauce, but spicier. It has the same tangy mayo-ness, but brings a moderate heat that lingered on the tongue for a little while after the taco was gone. I thought maybe the sour cream from the Supreme version would help cool it, but it didn't do too much. The sauce also makes for a slightly messier eating experience.
Between the Fiery Sauce and the Cool Ranch Doritos taco shell, the flavors here were pretty intense, but interacted well together. If you're looking for a flavor explosion, this might be it.
Overall, I enjoyed the Fiery Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco. I particularly liked the interplay between the Cool Ranch shell and the creamy, spicy Fiery Sauce. Just be warned, it is the Fiery Sauce is no joke.
