News: Subway Tests Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt

Subway is testing a Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt. The sandwich features a base of shredded chicken with enchilada sauce, Monterey cheddar cheese, chipotle southwest sauce, and Fritos corn chips, plus the standard choice of veggies, condiments, and bread.

According to GrubGrade, The Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt has been spotted in Central Florida as well as Seattle. Commenters on the blog have also reported seeing the sandwich in Milwaukee, Richmond, and New Hampshire (I haven't seen it at any of my local Subway stores here in Southern California, but will keep an eye out).

Adding chips into their burritos has worked out pretty well for Taco Bell and it looks like Subway trying the same.

If you'd like to see more, here's a television commercial for the Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt:

  1. Doesn't this defeat Subway's attempted purpose of offering healthier fast food options?

  2. I don't think so. They already offer a Steak and Cheese, and a Meatball Marinara, so this would just be another option on that end.

To me, Subway has always been a place you can get it healthy if you have them build it that way (which is to say with lots of veggies and very little or no condiments).

Sounds like a winner if they would not use such gristly chicken chunks.
