Dominique Ansel's
Cronut (croissant-donut) has generated a fair amount of buzz (
and long lines) since its introduction in May, but as of yet, major donut chains like Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme haven't tried their hands at mass-production of a donut-croissant... at least not here in the US...
Dunkin' Donuts offers their own
donut croissants called "New York Pie Donuts" over in South Korea. It's a pretty good rendition complete with long lines:

But South Korea isn't the only country where Dunkin' Donut sells donut croissants. You can also pick them up at select locations in
the Philippines where they're simply called "Donut Croissants" and come in an
Apple Cinnamon flavor topped with powdered sugar as well as a
glazed Choco Almond version.
Why no donut croissants for us here in the homeland though? Apparently,
at least according to one poll, most people here in the US haven't even heard of the cronut and would not wait in line to buy one.
Of course, even if none of the major chains end up making them, there are
plenty of Cronut knock-offs from other bakeries around the US.
Dunkin Donuts are yet to arrive over in the UK but these look deliscious.
