News: Progresso Launches Artisan Soups

Following on the tail of Campbell's Soup's recent expansion of multiple soup lines, Progresso is offering a new line of "Artisan Soups."

Progresso Artisan Soups come in five varieties and in a recyclable carton rather than a can. The soups feature flavors and ingredients new to the Progresso brand like curry spices, coconut milk, and kale.

The line currently consists of two vegetable bisques and three soups.

The vegetable bisques are:

- Creamy Tomato with Roasted Red Peppers starts with tomato puree and adds fire-roasted red peppers and cream seasoned with garlic, olive oil, and spices.

- Masala Curry Butter Squash features roasted butternut squash with curry spices, red bell peppers, coconut milk, and a bit of cream.

The soups consist of:

- Rustic Tomato with Chicken and Dumplings with a tomato puree base that builds with dumplings, chicken, and spinach touched with basil, onion powder, and a blend of Mediterranean spices.

- Creamy Potato with Sausage and Kale which is made with skin-on russet potatoes, roasted Italian sausage, kale, chicken broth, cream, garlic, and onions.

- Smoky White Bean and Winter Vegetables features navy beans, parsnips, black-eyed peas, turnips, celery, carrots, and chicken broth.

Progresso Artisan Soups are currently only available in grocery stores along the East Coast running from Florida to Maine at a suggested retail price of $2.99 for a 17.6 or 17.2-ounce carton (depending on the flavor).
