It's available in a Munchie Meal with 2 Tacos, an order of "Halfsie fries"(half seasoned curly fries and half regular fries), and a 20-ounce fountain beverage for $6 or a la carte for $4.
The breading on the chicken and mozzarella cheese sticks were nice and crisp without being too oily, giving the sandwich a decent all-around crunch. The lettuce also adds a fresh crispness to the mix.
The chicken patty is pretty middling as far as value chicken patties go and is comparable in both taste and quality to the ones you can get at the supermarket.
Between the cheese and the cheese sauce there's a lot of creamy cheesiness but only light flavors, which makes the whole sandwich come off as a little plain. The cheese sauce wasn't quite the promised explosion, but that might vary depending on who's making your sandwich.
Overall, the Exploding Cheesy Chicken Sandwich delivers on the cheese but lacks a bold flavor component to set it off. I ended up asking for some salsa and received a cup of the stuff that goes with their Fajita Pita. It's a bit like marinara and gave my sandwich that missing pep. Other things to try would be to get it with jalapenos and/or to stuff some potato wedges inside.

When prompted on how the sandwich was, The Woman had this to say, "This just makes me feel like I'm getting fatter... but I'm not enjoying it."

Over 3,000 mg sodium and 1,600 calories!!! That's more than a days worth of food in one disgusting sandwich!
ReplyDelete1600 calories is not one days worth of food. You have 400 calories left which surely the fries will cover.
ReplyDeleteThat's for the entire Munchie Meal. Jack in the Box doesn't list the info for the sandwich individually on their site currently. So it's the the 1600 calories and 3000mg of sodium for the sandwich, two tacos, and fries.
ReplyDeleteGotta figure the fries and tacos cover at least 600-700 of the 1600 calories..I'm too lazy and don't really care but if you just check the nutritional info on their tacos and fries and subtract it, it'd be pretty easy to figure it out. Still very unhealthy, but it is a "munchie meal" after all.
ReplyDeleteFor a healthy person the sodium is not much of a concern either. Any excess is simply excreted in urine.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong but doesn't it also help to eat some foods that have potassium? Maybe I'm over-thinking but I try to eat a banana once in a while when I'm eating a lot of salty fast food.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a poster on the counter that has the calorie count for the sandwiches alone. They run about 650 calories each.
ReplyDeletePotassium is needed, but unless you have a medical condition you are likely getting enough of that from foods like bananas. Eating lots of sodium containing food would not increase your potassium need. The kidneys balance both sodium and potassium separately and if need be will prevent them from going into urine or pass them into urine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.. I don't worry much about my health, maybe to my own detriment, but I do find stuff like this interesting.
