Review: Frito Lay's - Milk Chocolate-Dipped Wavy Lay's Potato Chips

Frito Lay's Milk Chocolate-Dipped Wavy Lay's Potato Chips feature original (i.e. plain and salted) wavy potato chips dipped in milk chocolate.

They're exclusive to Target and only around for the holiday season. I paid $3.49 for a 5-ounce bag.

The bag is much smaller than a typical bag of potato chips but has a fair amount of heft due to the chocolate. There's about 20 chips per bag.

I thought the chips would be completely covered in chocolate but they're actually just dipped on one chip face with the opposite face exposed.

Looking at the chocolate side, it's coated so thick you might think these were chocolate leaves rather than wavy chips. There is a lot of chocolate on each chip; more chocolate than potato really.

Fortunately, the chocolate is very good: creamy with a smooth chocolate taste. The potato chip is almost overwhelmed by all the chocolate and mostly adds a satisfying crunch and just a pop of salty fried potato that vanished a little too quickly.

Overall, Milk Chocolate Dipped-Wavy Lay's are delicious and interesting, if somewhat pricey (due to the majority of the product being made of chocolate). The chocolate is definitely the feature here, which is strange from a snack company best known for their chips. It's basically good milk chocolate with a bit of potato chip crunch to it.
