News: McAlister's Deli - Upgraded Sandwiches

McAlister's Deli has upgraded and revamped some of their sandwiches with new recipes and increased portions in a line of upgraded and classic sandwiches they're calling the "Big Bold Sandwiches."

Sandwiches with increased portions are the Memphian and The New Yorker.

The Memphian now has "almost 50 percent more" Black Angus roast beef, Black Forest ham, and Butterball smoked turkey. The rest of the sandwich includes provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, lite mayo, and spicy brown mustard on a toasted wheat hoagie.

The New Yorker now has double the corned beef and pastrami to go along with Swiss cheese and spicy brown mustard on rye.

The Italian features a new recipe and comes with Black Forest ham, salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, red, green, and yellow bell peppers, black olives, Italian vinaigrette, salt, pepper, and spicy brown mustard on a toasted baguette.

Classic sandwiches included on the new menu are the King Club and The Big Nasty.

  1. Do they have a version without the chocolate part? I like the idea of a cookie spread, but I'd want to try it on its own without the chocolate overpowering it like it seemingly does here.

  2. They do. It's just called "Speculoos Cookie Spread." If you don't have a TJ's nearby, there's another brand, Biscoff, that in supermarkets and makes the same cookie spread as well.

  3. Like I said on the "other" site, why does Fajita need ranch? Quit putting ranch on everything.

  4. Awesome. There is a Trader Joe's in town that opened up pretty recently (within the last year, anyway), but I've never had much of an excuse to go in there until now (after hearing about this stuff).

  5. I tried the Jalapeno BBQ burger last night. It's pretty good. I've never really liked JitB's burger patties, but they do the bacon, jalapeno strip, and BBQ sauce parts well, and those drown out most of the burger.

Some of my local JitB's will serve the full burger menu at breakfast time, and the thought of one of these for breakfast really amuses me.

  6. Ah, I should have liked to try it. But they aren't offering it in CA.
