Review: McDonald's - Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frappe

McDonald's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frappe features their mocha coffee frappe base blended with ice, chocolate chips, and strawberry-flavored syrup, topped with whipped cream and more strawberry syrup.

I picked up a 12-ounce small for $2.79.

While there's a discernible strawberry flavor to the drink, it falls on the artificial side and lacks the fruit's general tartness.

The chocolate chips were pretty average, falling somewhere between dark and milk chocolate; it didn't quite have the rich bitterness of dark chocolate nor the smooth creaminess of milk. In general, the chips were blended till they were pretty fine and adds a bit of grit to the frappe.

The consistency of the frappe was pretty good; not too icy or watery.

The overall effect of McDonald's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frappe is more like chocolate-covered strawberry candy due to the strawberry syrup (rather than sauce with actual strawberries). That might be fine for some, but I'm not a huge fan of non-tangy strawberry syrup and would have rather they blended the strawberry topping they use for their sundaes instead.
