News: Frito-Lay - New Smartfood Delight Reduced-Fat Popcorn

Frito-Lay's Smartfood brand recently introduced two new reduced-fat, air-popped popcorn flavors under the moniker "Smartfood Delight."

Smartfood Delight popcorn comes in two flavors: Sea Salt and White Cheddar.

While the bag touts "35 calories per cup," a 1-oz (3 and 1/2 cup!) serving of Smartfood Delight White Cheddar popcorn lists 130 calories versus 160 calories for the same weight (but less volume at 1 3/4 cup) of regular Smartfood White Cheddar popcorn.

The reduced-fat version contains 50% less fat but comes with a more complex ingredient list (15 versus 6; Sea Salt beats them both at 3).

Smartfood Delight Sea Salt popcorn comes in 5.5-oz bags with a suggested retail price of $3.99, while Smartfood Delight Cheddar popcorn comes in 6.5-oz bags for the same price.
