Rather than a new exterior,
Taco Bell looked to changing up what was inside the shell for their latest Doritos Locos Taco, the
new Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco.
The "Spicy Chicken" is literally a new spicy shredded chicken rather than chicken and a spicy sauce (which was a prototype that
I spotted testing last year). Update: May 8, 2014 - Nope, it's the exact same thing as the
"Fiery Chicken" version I tried last year.
The new taco is set to
debut on May 1 and will only be available for a limited time. Update 4/25/14 -
They've pushed back the launch date by a week to May 8.
The suggested price for the Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco (or, if you really like acronyms: the SCCR DLT) is $1.59 for the regular version (with shredded cheese and lettuce), and $1.89 for the supreme version (adds sour cream and diced tomatoes).
Previously, the Doritos Locos Taco line came standard with seasoned ground beef (although steak and chicken could be requested). Seeing as Taco Bell will pretty much make whatever you want with the ingredients they have available, you can also get
spicy shredded chicken Fiery Sauce in any other Doritos Locos Taco (Spicy Chicken Fiery Doritos Locos Taco anyone?) as well as in a burrito, Crunchwrap, and any other menu item (while it's available).
