Review: Taco Bell - Spicy Tostada

Taco Bell's Spicy Tostada is part of their new $1 Cravings value menu and features refried beans, red sauce, creamy chipotle sauce, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and tomatoes on a crunchy tostada shell.

Like the rest of the new value menu, it was $1.

Compared to the last time I got a Taco Bell Tostada, there was a lot more lettuce and tomatoes (the previous tostada didn't have tomatoes). Other than that, the only difference between this tostada and the last is the addition of chipotle sauce.

My local Taco Bell was also offering something called a "Double Tostada," which sounded like it might be some sort of tostada sandwich, but alas, it's just a regular tostada with double the amount of beans.

Laden as it was with toppings, the tostada shell retained very little in the way of crunch and quickly softened.

The beans seemed a bit lost to me under all the produce. The lettuce and tomatoes were pretty fresh.

The chipotle sauce was oddly not that spicy here (compared to the Spicy Potato Taco). The red sauce provided a nice, but light, tang.

The cheese was a bit lacking on mine, but it tends to be fairly mild anyway.

Overall, Taco Bell's Spicy Tostada was just okay for me. It wasn't very spicy and felt a little bit like a value salad on a crunchy corn shell. If you liked the old tostada though, this one is even cheaper (and you can easily order it without the chipotle if you like).
