Review: Which Wich - Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich

Which Wich's Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich features "fire-braised" pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and pickles on a Hawaiian bun. It's a limited-time sandwich for the summer and is a variation on their regular menu BBQ Pork & Slaw sub.

I paid $7.50 for the sandwich.

They did not skimp on the meat and the sandwich had a pretty good heft to it.

You order at Which Wich by grabbing a bag with the type of meat you want and filling in circles on it for the various stuff you want to go with. For the limited-time sandwiches, you grab the #8 bag.

The pork was tender, juicy, and thoroughly mixed (but not drenched) with a lightly sweet barbecue sauce. It's pretty much typical of what you'd get by slow-cooking pork in barbecue sauce. While there's a porkiness to it, it's mostly the sauce that comes through rather than the smokiness of good barbecue. Then again, it's a sandwich shop; it's not like they're smoking pork on site in the back (i.e. I wasn't really expecting quality barbecue).

The pickles and crunchy cole slaw break up the sweet barbecue monotony, but I found myself wishing for more slaw to cut against the sauce and added crunch.

The Hawaiian bun doesn't quite translate here since the sauce is already sweet. It was soft and pillowy though, and managed to hold together against the filling.

Overall, Which Wich's Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich was good for the first few bites, but got a little boring after that. The one note of sweet was nice but there wasn't enough to break it up. It was nice, but I found myself thinking I should have gotten one of their other sandwiches.
